As President of Mura Kosker Sorority Inc for many years, Regina will continue to advocate for more resources for Safe Happy Homes across Zenadth Kes.
Regina knows the urgent need for climate mitigation in the Torres Strait. As TSIRC Mayor, she will prioritise climate change issues.
As Mayor, Regina will advocate for greater gender diversity on committees, advisory boards and panels, eg inclusion of womens' voices in decision-making.
Regina is passionate about revitalising, preserving and promoting her strong traditional culture and heritage. Sharing her vision in providing economic development opportunities for individuals through creative arts industry, she is ambitious on preparing for tourism ventures. She enjoys organising Arts & Crafts Markets and other community projects, working collaboratively with other artists, elders and community members - bringing large crowds, cashed up.
She has over 25 years of experience under her belt, working in various positions within Vocational and Educational system, ranging from administration, management, teaching and business development project officer.
Having volunteered 20 years in various office bearers positions, from Secretary and Treasurer, with local sporting body, Torres Strait Youth Recreational & Sporting Association, and women's organisations, Mura Kosker Sorority Inc and Lena Passi Women's Shelter.
Today she is currently elected President of Mura Kosker Sorority Inc since 2010, Torres Strait peak women's organisation which provides early intervention programs aimed towards family and domestic violence prevention, child and families intensive support programs, referral services, including community education and awareness.
An instrumental founding member of Kirriri Dorge Muhd Indigenous Corporation, located on Hammond Island, which aims to showcase Torres Strait cultural arts and heritage through Creative Industries and Tourism ventures. She hopes to build a future for her children, especially her ngep/napas (grand children).
